Microsoft vil fokusere på webapplikationer

Oversat mener de mere fokus på ting som Silverlight.

Men øget fokus på dette område vil også tvinge Microsoft til at lave mere open-source / åbne standarder, da de ikke kan styre alle formater på internettet.

Ray Ozzie er god nok, han har også kun været ansat hos MS i snart 3 år :)
Og sammen med mange af de relativt unge software udviklere Microsoft har shanghaiet de sidste par år, synes jeg det kører firma'et i en mere positiv retning.

Allerede med .NET har de vist at de ikke finder de gamle windows methoder (hungarian notation, closed binary formats, etc.) acceptable.

Efter 20 i IT branchen er jeg nok lidt mere negativ overfor microsoft. Jeg er desværre nok svær at overbevise om at de ikke med tiden får "opgraderet" silverlight med funktioner der kun kan kører på deres egne systemer.
Jeg tvivler på at de har mistet lysten til at udradere alle andres produkter fra jordens overflade. :)

Heldigvis kan jeg endnu stadig arbejde inden for IT, selvom jeg påstår overfor mine arbejdsgivere at jeg ikke aner noget om MS produkter og ikke har interesse for det. Hvilket er lidt af en overdrivelse, men det sikrer mig mod at få opgaver med det. :)

Fik mig til at tænke på en tilfældig kommentar til "What atrocities in the software world have become commonplace?"

Sålænge Balmer er ansat hos Microsoft, eller bare har en lyd at skulle have sagt (som aktionær, i bestyrelse, eller noget som helst i den retning), så vil de altid have lyst til at udraderer alle andre produkter, ja :D

Det ville vel også være grov pligtforsømmelse i forhold til aktionærerne hvis ikke de gjorde det ...
